Learning Through Poetry

A Poet Who Found Her Voice at Twelve

Phan Ái Thủy is the pen name of Phan Thị Thủy, a Vietnamese poet, lecturer and educator born in Thái Bình, Vietnam. She fell in love with poetry as a child and was writing her own poems by the age of twelve.

For nearly 17 years she has worked in education, teaching and supporting learners of all ages. Her work earned her scholarships to continue her studies in Australia and the United States, where she now lives.

Today she writes poetry for both adults and children. Her children’s poems draw on everything she has learned in the classroom and her lifelong love of nature, animals and kindness.

About the Author

Phan Thi Thuy, pen name isPhan Ái Thủy, a poet and an educator, who writes poems for curious young minds.

From a village in Thái Bình, Vietnam, she showed her love of nature via poems. She could make poems from secondary school. Thuy has worked in education for nearly 17 years and got full scholarships to study higher education in Australia and in the United States.

Her children’s poems bring together her experience as an educator and her love of nature. Poetry can explain things with short sentences, phrases, with rhythm and rhymes that enhance children’s language and knowledge. Reading poetry and observing the surrounding environment may help children reduce stress, find inner peace, learn and enjoy life.
